1) Research a new technology. Use one of these websites to get you started:

2) Create a 30 second commercial advertising your technology using Movie Maker or Animotocall me if you want to use Animoto, and I’ll get you a student account.

  • Use one of the 6 advertising techniques.

  • Include a slogan.
  • Collect the URLs of the images you use.

  • Add music!

  • When you finish your commercial, get the instructions from me in order to embed it in your blog.

  • Wired – Daily technology news
  • ScienceDaily – Updated several times a day with breaking news and feature articles, seven days a week, the site covers discoveries in all fields of the physical, biological, earth and applied sciences (medicine, health, brain, plants, animals, earth, climate, energy, computers, math, fossils, ruins)
  • Curiosity.com – From Discovery, resources for science, robotics, space, computing, communications, neuroscience
  • Geek.com – A wide variety of technologies, including gaming, smartphones, smart houses, and tons more!
  • PBS Technology –  News articles about new technologies
  • BBC News/Technology – Technology news- worldwide

3. Blog about the technology.

  • Paragraph 1: Summarize the technology (who, what, where, when, why, how). Include the title of the article you read in quotation marks. Include the author’s name. (Example: I read the article titled “Drugs shown to stop and even reverse Alzheimer’s in mice” by Ben Coxworth.)

  • Paragraph 2: Explain which advertising technique you used for your commercial. How are you trying to sell your product? This needs to be a full paragraph, so give details!
  • When you finish, you need to link the title of the article to the webpage it came from. Watch this video for directions:

  • Add any URL links to the images you used. (If they all came from one website, just use one link.)

 

 

 

Your final project…

Research a new technology.

        >Blog about the technology (3 choices below).

        >Create a commercial about your technology using iMovie or Animoto . When you finish your commercial, get the instructions from me in order to embed it in your blog.

Steps to complete this final project:

1) Decide on your article.

2) Complete a Fishbone diagram–get the paper from me to assist you with it.

You may choose to create your commercial first or write in your blog first. BOTH are due by FRIDAY!!

BLOG POST DIRECTIONS

Write a 2 paragraph blog post about your technology.

a) Write your first paragraph summary explaining the technology you chose.

When you finish, you need to link the title of the article to the webpage it came from. Watch this video for directions:
2) Write your second paragraph…Possible topics:

b) Write paragraph 2 about…you choose one of these topics:

    1) How will this technology impact us now?
    2) Envision our future 10 years from now–if we have your technology now, what is possible 10 years from now?
    3) Compare it to another technology and decide which will have more impact.
For all 3, use evidence from your article to support your hypothesis.
  You may use “quotation marks” to quote the article.
  You may paraphrase the article (put a statement into your own words) and write something like: Mr. Martin, the inventor believes that…    or   The article states that…

When you finish, PUBLISH!
